Our Staff

Birmingham Hearing and Balance Center is made up of a team of professionals dedicated to providing the best quality healthcare in a responsive and caring environment. Dr. Grayson Rodgers is Board certified with years of experience in the profession. He works in concert with our audiologists, nurses and office staff who work hard to understand your health issues quickly and begin treatment.

Grayson Rodgers, MD

Dr. Grayson Rodgers has been in this location practicing Otology and Neurotology (sub specialization of Ear, Nose and Throat dedicated to the ear and nervous system as it inferfaces with the ear) since 1992. He arrived in Birmingham directly out of his fellowship training in Otology and Neurotology at the prestigious House Ear Institute in Los Angeles, CA. His ENT residency was completed at the University of Pittsburgh Eye and Ear Hospital. He graduated with honors from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine where he also accomplished his undergraduate education. He is Board Certified in Otolaryngology (ENT) and has an additional Board issued certificate of added qualification in Neurotology.
In Birmingham he has developed a practice focused exclusively on ear disorders. He is recognized as a referral source for complicated/challenging ear pathology from physicians across our state.
Dr. Rodgers has published articles in his specialty as well as authored textbook chapters. He has lectured at physician educational meetings as an invited expert and maintains membership in his specialty medical societies.
His practice philosophy emphasizes spending proper time listening to patients' issues and educating his patients on their illnesses and treatment options. He is personable and engaging with his patients and keeps patient volume generally low assuring adequate time for each patient.
Abby Turnbough

Abby Turnbough, Au.D., CCC-A, F-AA​

Abby received her Doctorate of Audiology (Au.D.) in 2017 from Auburn University.
Abby received her Bachelor of Arts in Communication Disorders (2013) from the University of Alabama. She completed her Clinical Fellowship Year with the UAB Civitan-Saprks Clinics from 2016-2017 and has been a full-time member of the audiology team since August of 2017.
Abby is a licensed Audiologist in the state of Alabama and a Fellow of the American Academy of Audiology (F-AAA). She carries the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology (CCC-A) which is awarded by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). Abby enjoys conducting adult and pediatric diagnostic evaluations and has special interest in hearing aids, cochlear implants, and vestibular testing.
Todd Brazil, MCD, CCC-A

Todd Brazil, MCD, CCC-A

Todd received his Master’s Degree in Communication Disorders (MCD) from Auburn University in 2002 and received his Bachelor of Arts in Communication Disorders in 2000. He completed his Clinical Fellowship Year with Birmingham Ear Nose and Throat in 2002 and has been with the practice for 15 years.
Todd is a licensed Audiologist in the state of Alabama and holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology (CCC-A) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and is a current member of the Alabama Board of Examiners for Speech Pathology and Audiology (ABESPA).
Todd’s focus has been in diagnostics, hearing aids, cochlear implants, bone-anchored hearing aids.
Christine K Goguen, M.S., CCC-A

Christine K Goguen, M.S., CCC-A

Christine Graduated from The University of South Alabama with a Bachelor of Science in Speech and Hearing Science in 1995. In 1997, she graduated from the University of Montevallo with a Master in Audiology. She is licensed in audiology by the Alabama Board of Examiners for Speech Language Pathology & Audiology, is a member of the American Speech Language Hearing Association and holds a Certificate of Clinical Competency.
She has worked for the Birmingham Hearing and Balance Center since 1997 where she currently holds the position of Directory of Audiology. Her clinical interests include diagnostic hearing evaluations, vestibular and electrophysiological testing and cochlear implants. 
Makenna Land, MSN, FNP-C

Makenna Lang, MSN, FNP-C

Makenna received her Bachelors of Science in Nursing in 2014 and her Masters of Science in Nursing from Samford University in 2017. She is a Board-Certified family Nurse Practitioner (RNP-C) and is licensed by the State of Alabama. She joined the practice in January 2018.
